Laura-Day 4

In Students' Reflections on March 18, 2011 at 12:09 pm

We just wrapped up Day 4 of the Stone Soup Bus Tour. We started out today in Tioga, North Dakota, after spending the night at the Tioga Elementary School. Some of the great residents of Tioga provided breakfast for us at Senior Citizens Center, which we greatly appreciated. We spent the morning conducting interviews with many of the older residents of Tioga, similar to what we did in Hettinger. It was great to hear the stories of these people, many of whom had experienced living during the Great Depression. One man told me at length of his experience serving during World War II, which was so interesting to hear about. I had a really great time today in Tioga; all of the people there were so wonderful! Tioga is a great community. The oil boom out west is of course helping Tioga grow, but some of its greatest assets are the people within the community.
